The fête des fraises (strawberry festival) at Vergt in the last Sunday in May includes an excellent brocante and street market, a huge communal meal for around 600 people, traditional dancing, and of course the 3m diameter strawberry tart; each segment made by a different commune. Delicious!
Strawberry tart

The huge 3 metre diameter strawberry tart – largest in the world, made by one of the local bakers who works all night. With a layer of crème patissier under the strawberries, it is delicious.
Communal meal

Everyone is welcome to join in the communal meal.
  • In August there is a very good small music festival at nearby St Amand de Vergt.

The fête des citrouilles (Pumpkin festival) in St Mayme de Pereyrol is on the second Sunday in October. There is a street market, cider press, portable bread oven, stonemasons, another huge communal meal, and of course hundreds of brightly coloured pumpkins and gourds of every shape and colour.

From the tiny gourds shaped like strange animals to great orange monsters, there is a gourd here for everyone…. not to mention some garlic to put in your pumpkin soup!
