Things to do and see
Most people spend a great deal of their time relaxing by the pool, but sometimes one has an urge to be busier…
The tourist office in Vergt will give you details of local events during your stay.
All over the region there are summer markets (including night markets), outdoor brocantes (flea markets), and vides greniers (the French version of a car boot sale). There are sons et lumières – look out for signs by the roadside. Within a half hour radius there is golf, canoeing, cycling, and a plan d’eau (artificial lake).
You can take river trips on an old boat from Bergerac and several other towns along the Dordogne. The Dordogne caves are famous, as is the architecture of the bastide (fortified) towns all over the region. There are heaps of castles to the east on the Dordogne and to the North around Perigueux.
